Septic/Sewer Line Blockage & Removal Statesville, Mooresville, & Huntersville NC

Here at Lentz Wastewater Management, we are accustomed to working with septic and sewer lines that have become blocked. This often occurs when septic and sewer systems have not been properly maintained for several years. However, no matter what caused your septic or sewer line blockage, we can locate the problem area and fix it properly.

What Causes Septic and Sewer Line Blockages?

The overwhelming majority of sewer and septic line blockages we see are usually as a direct result of a lack of maintenance. Your septic or sewer lines should be pumped every 3 to 5 years and your entire system needs to have routine maintenance performed on it. When this doesn’t happen, solids can accumulate in your tank and enter your drain field through your outlet pipe, causing a blockage.

Other common causes of these blockages include tree roots impeding on your lines, flushing the wrong products down the drain (feminine hygiene products, paper towels, ultra-thick toilet paper, and baby wipes).

In addition, certain household liquids should not enter your plumbing system, including fats, oils, and grease. These products can bind together and build up in your pipes, causing a blockage. Homeowners should also not flush foods, soups, etc. down the toilet. Instead, throw them in the trash.

How are Septic and Sewer Like Blockages Repaired?

If your septic or sewer line becomes blocked, we can often repair them by locating the blockage, excavating the line, and replacing the sections of the line that are stopped up. Depending on the degree of blockage, the line may be able to be jetted. Hydro-jetting uses specialized  equipment and a pump truck to blast water under high pressure. The water blasts through the pipes to dislodge and clear blockages.

Unfortunately, some blockages will cause irreparable harm, and the entire drain field/system will need to be replaced. If this is the case, you will need to work with your local health department to schedule an assessment and to obtain the proper permits before we can get started.

Our ability to repair septic and sewer line blockages will depend heavily on your system’s age, the type and severity of the blockage, and the type of drain line you have (cement tile, pipe, chambers, panels, etc.).
